Valle Nuevo, El Salvador: January 2—10, 2010
Join us on our Global Village trip to El Salvador and experience another culture while making a difference in the lives of others. As a Global Village volunteer, you will work alongside members of the host community in building decent, affordable housing. Your active partnership will help raise awareness of the burden of poverty housing and create a true global village of love, community, homes and hope.

No experience necessary
We welcome all who want to make a difference by picking up a hammer and helping to change lives. There is no maximum age limit. This trip may require strenuous manual labor, so all participants should be in good health.

What you will do on your trip
Most of our responsibilities will include carrying bricks, mixing cement, moving and compacting dirt, etc.  Itineraries are balanced with plenty of work, rest and free time. We will spend a few days discovering the area and participating in local cultural activities. You can expect to gain a unique set of experiences and memories. Volunteers form once-in-a-lifetime friendships as they travel, live, work and eat together.

How to Join
• Submit the Global Village application to Waco Habitat for Humanity

• Interview with a Habitat staff member

• Deposit of $250 per person (which is tax deductible) made out to Waco Habitat for Humanity or a copy of your plane ticket to secure your slot.

• Submit to Waco Habitat for Humanity a copy of your valid Passport

• Check w/family physician or CDC about health considerations (immunizations, etc.)

Approximate Costs
• $526.20--$600 Airfare with Continental (Purchase on your own)
 
• January 02--Depart 5:45 PM | Arrive 8:46 PM  | Flight CO828 | IAH to SAL

• January 10--Depart 7:40 AM | Arrive 10:49 AM | Flight CO829 | SAL to IAH

$750 for trip--Make payment to Waco Habitat for Humanity
• Lodging with affiliate, meals, and in-country transportation/6 days
